Now that you've had some time to relax, it's
time to get to work. There are a few things you'll need to
remember about computer troubleshooting.
- This can be a very frustrating
process, so you need to have patience. A lot of patience.
- You also need to have a lot of free
time to commit to the troubleshooting process. Don't try
to resolve an issue if you only have 5 minutes to dedicate to
it.
- Telephone support is very difficult
for both parties involved in the process. This is because
you may not understand tech talk, or may be incorrectly
describing the problem, and tech support can't see what's happening or
what error messages appear.
- Email support can also be difficult
because it takes much longer, and also because it's not easy to
express tone or describe context in a message.
If you and your computer survive the
troubleshooting and repair process this time around; there is one thing
left to do now and also continue to perform on a regular basis - that is to
back up your data. Your computer hardware can be replaced and the
software can be re-installed; but if you don't have a recent backup,
you've just lost your financial data, music, important paper due
tomorrow, baby or wedding pictures or whatever else is important to you
that is now gone forever. The importance of performing regular
backups can never be stressed enough.
